Children...then and now

Gentle readers, I have a favor to ask of you. My third-grade daughter is working on a geography project. And I'm delighted for the bonding experience. Please leave a comment and take a peek at the countries we're missing. We're hoping to get at least one visit from every country in the world!

The project will result in
a Power Point presentation using the data. My how times have changed! Third grade!

By the way,
Wonders and Marvels now has a strong following in the UK, Australia, and California. Thanks guys! (Through Google Analytics, I can see what city readers are from...nothing else, never fear.)

Would you all be kind enough to share a link to this blog with as many friends as possible--and especially in these far flung places? Just click on the envelope under the post to email the link to your friends.

Cuba
Kazakstan
Guyana
Ecuador
Bolivia
Paraguay
Uraguay
Russia
Greenland
Iceland
New Guinea
Indonesia
much of Africa
much of the Middle East

And don't worry, I'm not letting her read the blog entries. I'm not ready AT ALL to give the "Birds and the Bees" talk just yet!

  5. Awesome project!!

About six months ago, a bunch of 12-yr-olds from Denmark contacted me through skype... they were doing a geography project on Chile and wanted to get the inside scoop!

Regardless of its bad sides, we really gotta love technology :)

  6. Hello from Dunedin, New Zealand. I came to your blog via a comment on Twitter. I was over at Vanderbilt last year visiting the School of Nursing, and talking about midwifery in New Zealand. So, being a midwife, I am fascinated by your blog.

If you are interested, I have given a biography writing workshop for 3rd graders to write their own family stories. Also writing a book for kids with questions to ask during an interview.

  17. Clydebank is just outside Glasgow in Scotland, on the banks on the River Clyde, hence the name. Just remind your daughter that Scotland is not part of England - we really hate when Americans call the UK England. And no we don't all wear kilts and I was a grown man before I even tasted haggis for the first time.

  77. A postcard from Scotland:

I live in a small village outside Edinburgh, Scotland. Amongst purple hills and ragged fields. It is cold now, and grey, and threatening rain. Moss grows on the roofs of the houses. Geese fly in arrow formation across the sky. And children came round last night with lamp-lit faces and crying 'trick or treat'.
Good luck to you both in completing your project.

    Best wishes

    Douglas
